Mitchell R. Heppenheimer assumes office as State Bar president

 

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 5, 2016) – Mitchell R. Heppenheimer, South Bend, assumed the office of president of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) for 2016-17 at the Association’s annual meeting in Indianapolis. He succeeds Carol M. Adinamis, Westfield, who will now serve as immediate past president of the ISBA’s 25-member Board of Governors. As president, Heppenheimer will represent the single largest legal organization in the state.

 

He is the managing partner at the firm Heppenheimer & Korpal and has been the deputy county attorney for St. Joseph County since 1981. He represents the county clerk, auditor, treasurer, recorder, Area Plan Commission and the St. Joseph County Airport Authority.

 

Heppenheimer is a member of the St. Joseph County (past president; past treasurer; member, board of directors), Indiana State (past chair, House of Delegates; past treasurer; past member, board of governors; past chair, Membership & Membership Benefits Committee; past chair, Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee; past chair, BARPAC Committee; and inductee, GP Hall of Fame) and American bar associations. He is also a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation. He received his B.S. in accounting from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1972 and his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, Birmingham, Ala., in 1976.
