Professional enjoyment: two things – I have great partners. I feel fortunate to work with people on a daily basis that I enjoy being around and who are really good at their job. I also have a lot of fun when a case requires me to learn about a business or industry that I previously didn’t know much about.

Your inspiration: As I was thinking about my career, I was attracted to “big ideas” like fairness and justice. I also enjoy problem solving. The legal profession requires the ability to deal in lofty ideas and complex concepts, and also involves nitty-gritty problem solving, and those different aspects appealed to me.

Why bar association involvement: We all live in and depend on various communities. Because we all benefit from the communities that we are a part of, I think it is important for a person to give back to his or her community, and there are lots of ways to do that. Working with the bar association is one way for me to give back to the legal community.

If not a lawyer: I would be a teacher and probably be involved in coaching. I have lots of educators in my family, and I studied education as an undergrad.

Fav hobbies: I love watching I.U. sports, both in person and on TV, with my family. Because both of my kids play soccer, watching soccer has become a big hobby, too. Fav book or author and current reading: I’m working my way through A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) novels. Fav vacation spot: Hilton Head, Charleston, Savannah – anywhere in the Low Country. Fav food or restaurant: I like to cook outdoors, especially with my smoker. As far as restaurants, my wife and I like Baker Street Steakhouse here in Fort Wayne for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Top of my bucket list: I don’t golf much, but I’m a big fan of the sport. Playing the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland, would have to be near the top of the list.
